Quitting Sounds Better

I know being a full-time entrepreneur sounds like "the life" you make your own schedule, you're flexible with your time but at the end of the day full-time entrepreneurship has a much bigger responsibility than most people share publicly. I'm your Vision Coach LaToya Early and I've been a full-time entrepreneur for a little over 5 years now and babbbby let me tell you, it's been no easy walk. I've gone from home office to full sized executive offices back to home offices. I have AHmazing months and I've had months that made me want to pull my hair out. I've super happy about my pursuit in chasing my dreams and I've been super annoyed by it, but the fact of the matter is, my gut feeling won't go away. Quitting sounds good, going back to a traditional 9-5 sounds easy, but then I ask myself, "Were you designed for easy" once I ask myself that question, sometimes 100 times in a day, I always seem to come up with the same response.

Extraordinary isn't Easy!

I've always wondered why people who had goals, dreams and aspirations never pursued them. I've always been the one to jump off the cliff and build my parachute on the way down and then it hit me, the power of fear can change the trajectory of your entire life. Most people have become so immune to fear they don’t even recognize the power they’ve given it. What’s even more crazy is that fear has become so subtle yet aggressive, it’s disguised itself in many other characteristics: procrastination, finances, relationships. How has fear disguised itself in your life? What is it keeping you from attaining? Take a moment and evaluate your distractions, your setbacks, your excuses. Examine the root, is it fear? Has fear slowly crept into your daily routine without notice?

2 Timothy 1:17 says "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Now I don't know about you, but this scripture screams success. So, you mean to tell me God didn't give me the spirit of fear, but He's given me power? Okay wait, let's break this down so what’s really wrong with fear, doesn’t everyone have it, isn’t it normal to be afraid? Well first fear is not normal, while it’s extremely prevalent, it is not normal. We were made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and last I checked; He wasn’t clothed in fear. Yes, fear is definitely familiar, but normal means; typical, standard or expectation. If you’re expecting fear, how can you ever live in faith? How can you ever go after your greatest desire if the execution is driven in fear? Second, it stops creation. Fear is the complete opposite of faith. You can’t believe for something and in the same thought be afraid to attain it. James 1:8 says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. It is our lie’s instruction to "walk by faith" according to 2 Corinthians 5:7, faith is the evidence of the things we can't see (you have to believe it, before you receive it), so the things that you desire are obtained through faith, believing that what you desire will come true (Hebrews 11:1).

So I’m sure it’s safe to assume that riding fear should be our first priority by replacing it with...drum roll please... you’ve guessed it, FAITH. Doubt alone will ultimately destroy destiny and faith will drive you to levels in life you wouldn’t reach without it. So, let’s jump back into this lesson, now that we understand that God didn’t give us the spirit of fear and He expects us to walk by faith, what did He give us? Power. Now, if He’s given us power, let’s discover what this power is and how it’s used. The first question is, how do you receive the power God has given you? Acts 1:8 says you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. (Do you have the Holy Spirit? If not, See Romans 10:9) The second question is, where does the power work? Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think accordingly to the POWER that worketh in us. The power works within you, once received by the Holy Spirit upon confessing with your mouth and believing with your heart. The third question is, what does the power do? A) It keeps us strong – Colossians 1:11 B) It gives us power when we’re weak – Isaiah 40:29 C) Resist darkness / Diseases – Luke 9:1. And lastly, what is the power? The power is the Holy Spirit – Romans 15:13.

Why does quitting sound better? Because it offers you the opportunity to escape from your fears and hide behind your insecurities. You have no room to quit and quitting should never be an option. This is your season to walk by faith by any means necessary. Stop looking at what you see and start seeing what you believe.

I can go on and on about this subject, quitting has always sounded good when you’re right slap dab in the middle of fear, but when I’m reminded of WHY I was called to this place and who I’m enduring for it changes the way I think about my current situation. I want to share more about this scripture 2 Timothy 1:17 giving a little more detail to the other things God has given us, like love and a sound a mind. Now make sure you have some time, because when I break down “sound mind” it’s going to completely change your approach to mental health.

Okay my loves, chow for now.

Xoxo,

Your Vision Coach
